Nursing Informatics

Nursing informatics is defined as the speciality that integrates the branches of  nursing science, computer science and information science. It helps in identifying, collecting, processing, and managing data and information to support nursing practice, administration, education, research and the expansion of nursing knowledge which will help in becoming a registered Nurse. Lot of advancements in information technology has created new roles for nurses emphasizing the need for all nurses to become more knowledgeable about health information concepts and technology that is designed to manage and process information. Nurses with expertise in informatics are often referred to as nursing informaticians who are aslo referred to as advanced practice Nurse. Rn informatics career focuses on how to boost the management of information and communications in the field of nursing. A certified nurse works as part of a team with physicians and other specialists to provide patient care, and may also supervise lower level nurses.
